September 9th-30th Technique A Week For Fiddle: Play Well With Others! - At Dusty Strings
If you're an intermediate fiddler looking for ways to improve your playing and focus your
practice time this class can help you get there. Like the first Technique a Week class, you’ll
learn a new tune and practice exercises centered on a different skill each week, this time
focusing on things that will help you have more fun playing with others. The first class will
review music theory concepts to help you be more confidant about what notes and chords are
in a given key, and how you can use that information to transpose a tune to different keys.
Over the next three classes we'll practice ways to pick up your speed without losing control,
work out chords to back each other up, and write a harmony part to a simple fiddle tune.
All tunes will be taught by ear, and recordings and tablature/sheet music will be available for easy
download through the class website. Held at Dusty Strings
Four Thursdays, September 9, 16, 23, 30, 7:45pm - 8:45pm - $80
September 19th Fiddle for Young Violinists: Ages 8-11 - At Dusty Strings
Already know the basics of the violin and want to learn a fiddle tune? We'll start off learning a tune by ear (there will be sheet music to take home if you need it) and then add in some of the
fun bowing rhythms that make make your feet want to dance.
If you've played around with the notes from a fiddling book but aren't sure how to make it
sound like fiddle music, come learn a new tune and the techniques that make great dance
music.Tunes will be taught (and transcribed) in treble clef range, but all orchestral strings
players are welcome. Questions? Email Sarah at fiddleteacher@hotmail.com Workshop held at
Dusty Strings , $30
